The Hartford Fair is billed as the "Biggest Little Fair in the World." Exhibits and shows range from Goats to Tractor pulls. I attended two days of the six day fair, and took some pictures along the way.
These two were being ornery but I managed to catch them in a calm moment while waiting to enter the show ring pulling a small wagon.

The first thing to see upon entry into the fairgrounds from the south parking lot is the antique tractor display. I had to walk back to it a couple of times and be patient due to people getting in the shot. Old tractors always have bright colors, and the green trees and grass make a good contrast. This image is actually two layered photos. Since a lot of the tractors are in the shade I had to take one picture with the sky overexposed, but the tractors clear, and one shot with the sky exposed correctly. I then combined the shots in GIMP.

The first day of the fair also features a classic car show. The next car over reflected quite well and caught my eye in the chrome hubcap. I was too lazy to switch lenses so this picture was taken as close as possible, which was about six feet away.

The natural resources area usually offers good opportunities for photographs. While listening to the 4-H band give a concert in the park, I walked around looking for things to shoot. I found these guys hard at work collecting pollen. Again I didn't feel like swapping lenses so I felt a bit silly standing 6ft away from my subjects, but it worked.
